COVID-19 Update (What about fall 2020 and spring 2021 conferences?)
We look forward to hosting couples again at Weekend Getaways as soon as it can be done in a safe and responsible way. While we’ve booked hotels for some fall 2020 and spring 2021 locations in hopes of holding conferences, whether these events go ahead (and in what capacity) depends on the unfolding health situation nationally and on a provincial level. As registration opens up for certain locations, we will be posting that information here. The next update will be on September 9th. What is a Weekend Getaway?
A Weekend Getaway is a marriage conference uniquely designed to enrich your relationship. For most couples it’s a chance to reconnect, re-establish the foundation and rekindle romance. For others, it’s a fresh start. For some, it will be the weekend that saves a marriage.
Wherever you’re at in your relationship, this retreat is a weekend to remember. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm, even fun. You’ll hear from real couples doing real life together… God’s way. You’ll be given time to process what you’re learning. And together, you’ll make a plan for a marriage that lasts a lifetime.

What will we do?
The weekend is a blend of full group sessions and downtime for the two of you - in fact a date night is built right in. The sessions have a workshop feel, mixing great information with time and tools for you to process what you are learning. And we mean just the two of you. There is no awkward sharing with strangers.

Note: $6 processing fee will be applied to each couple’s registration.

Groups must be registered at least 2 days before event start date. Registrations within the group are non-refundable but may be transferred to another couple or location. *Any couples above the minimum 5 can be added at the group rate of $180/couple. The group rate also applies to gift certificates when bought in multiples of 5.
Registration rates do not include hotel, meals or parking.
Guests are responsible for booking their own accommodations. Be sure to mention you are a guest with FamilyLife for the discounted room rate (subject to room type availability). Rates and offers may not be combined.

Is food provided?
What should we bring, and what should we wear?
Are children permitted?
No. As a courtesy to other participants, we ask that children, including nursing infants, not be brought to the sessions. FamilyLife is unable to provide childcare during the conference. Does the hotel offer special room rates for Weekend Getaway guests?
Yes they do. Each hotel has its own discounted room rate. When booking your room let them know you are a guest at FamilyLife’s Weekend Getaway marriage conference and they will honour the special rate for you.
Do we have to stay at the conference hotel? Or can we stay at home and commute?
While it is highly recommended that you and your spouse stay at the conference hotel to experience the weekend in it’s entirety, we do understand some circumstances make this difficult. If for whatever reason you can’t stay at the hotel, agree with your spouse to remove all distractions to get the most of your time together: clear your schedule, don’t check your email, keep the tv off, unplug the phone and find someone to help you with your children. This is a time for you and your spouse to focus on just each other and your relationship.
When we register, is a room automatically reserved for us at the hotel?
All Weekend Getaway guests must book and pay for their own accommodations by contacting the hotel prior to the conference. Hotel information is included with each location description. FamilyLife is unable to make those arrangements for you.
Is it possible to attend or register for only part of the conference?
Each topic builds on the previous topics. Therefore, we do not offer partial registrations.
Does the registration fee include accommodations?
No. The registration fee does not include accommodations, meals or parking.
Is the conference just for troubled marriages?
Not at all. This conference is for everyone, no matter what condition your marriage is in. Past participants range from those in good solid marriages right down to those ready to sign divorce papers. It can either take your marriage from good to great, or to potentially saving it. The conference offers hope.
Is this conference just for Christians?
No. While the conference material is based on biblical principles, it is not exclusive to Christians. The event offers sound practical and applicable marriage teaching for everyone regardless of your beliefs. Our speakers teach from their own experiences in a non-threatening and often humorous way.
Do we need to be married to attend?
Not necessarily, but it is designed to strengthen marriages, so to make the most of your investment we recommend that your relationship is in the process of taking that step. The majority of couples that attend are married, but occasionally engaged couples join us as well and find the conference helpful in starting their marriage off on the right foot.
What is the cancellation policy?
Registration fees are refundable up to seven days prior to the conference, less a $30 per couple cancellation fee. Or, we’ll gladly transfer your registration to another couple, or to a future Canadian conference. If you are unable to attend due to unavoidable last-minute circumstances, please let us know by emailing email@example.com or calling 1-800-247-3180 (8:30 – 4:30 PT, Mon-Fri). Please note each hotel has their own cancellation policy that is separate from your registration. Please contact the hotel directly to inquire and make changes to your hotel reservation.
