Being a parent is wonderful. But it’s also incredibly hard. It’s warm affection, joy, and crazy fun one moment, and utter frustration, exhaustion and feeling helpless the next. And often on the very same day!

Throw in trying to navigate cultural currents and a global health crisis, and it’s no wonder parents are feeling overwhelmed and need some encouragement.

This Day Forward Parenting Conference is all about equipping you for the most important job of your life. With Real Hope, Practical Help and Proven Wisdom.

From April 12-18th, over 1600 parents from coast and coast had free access to 19 on demand workshops on crucial parenting topics. Then on April 17th, we gathered online for live Q&A sessions with several of the workshop presenters to learn even more together.

If you missed the signup window or want to review the content, it’s now available to rent for a small fee that enables us to create more resources to strengthen families. Or to equip the parents in your community, check out the group/church access pass.

We hope you find the workshops encouraging and gain new tools for your parenting journey. You can rent the whole library of content for three months through the button below.

Workshops & Presenters

In early January, we asked over 2000 parents from across Canada what topics they’d most want to learn about. With the survey results in mind, we found skilled presenters to teach workshops on the needs most commonly expressed and had a wonderful conference in mid-April.

In case you missed the conference or want to review the material, you can now get 3 months of on-demand access to watch these workshops at your convenience for just $15.

Giving Your Kids the Security of a Healthy Marriage

You’ve probably heard before that the best gift you can give your children is the security of a strong, healthy marriage. But how does that work in real life? How much authenticity do you model? What if you have different approaches to parenting? How do you pass on faith if you’re not on the same page spiritually? How do you strengthen your marriage when you’re so busy parenting? Neil and Sharol Josephson will share what they’ve learned (mostly from trial and error) in their 40 years of parenting.

If joy is difficult to find right now, you’ll love these five grace-filled steps to help you laugh again and leave a lasting legacy. PS: Don’t forget to bring your funnybone.

Engaging the LGBTQ Conversation as a Responsible Christian Parent

Preston Sprinkle will engage God’s vision for sex, sexuality, and gender in a way that’s relational, down to earth, biblical, and compelling. This conversation will cover challenging issues by addressing the areas of the love of God, the authority of God, and the shame that often cripples conversations about sex and prevents parents from even engaging the topic in healthy ways.

Building Faith That Lasts

The Bible encourages parents to direct their children onto the right path. No problem, sounds easy! Right? Well, Of course you don’t need to be a parent for long to discover it is not even remotely as simple as it sounds. In this workshop, Matt and Josie encourage parents to lead their children towards three key relationships that are focused on encouraging, strengthening and building their faith.

Porn-Proofing Your Kids

Our children no longer have to hunt for pornography. It hunts for them. But rather than choose a fearful approach, we can raise confidently aware children and teens who know the effects of pornography and can communicate to their peers why they are avoiding it.

Media. Faith. Culture

We need to be actively involved with our culture without blindly accepting it as true. This is especially relevant when it comes to the media we consume in our homes. Brett encourages a commitment to no more thoughtless watching, listening, or online activity, but to instead intentionally and daily pursue what is good for our hearts and minds.

Connection Based Parenting: A Healthy Alternative to Helicopter or Hands-Off Parenting

In this healthy approach, both parent and child work together as a team. Parents ultimately have the final say but try to involve the child as much as possible. Our goal then as parents is to put our children in the driver’s seat and get them to drive by asking for help, solving problems, and trying to make responsible choices as much as possible. This instills confidence, independence and resilience, setting our children up for success.

Discipling Your Children in a Sexualized World

15 years ago, Christian parents thought it was enough to have “the talk” about sex with your teenager. Not so today. Pornography, hook-up apps, questions about gender, sexting… it’s all part of the normal landscape for today’s kids. How does a parent navigate these waters? Join Dr. Juli Slattery for a conversation with Sharol Josephson that will challenge and equip you to disciple your children in a sexualized world.

Parenting in Blended Families

In blended families, biological parents and stepparents have to find harmony even as stepparents bond with stepchildren and try to find their place in the home. It’s often quite complex and confusing, but it can be done if you get stepfamily smart. This session with blended family expert Ron Deal will build your teamwork and move your family forward.

Connected Parenting – Building Connection with Your Kids

Have you ever had your child “listen to you” and then do nothing that you said? Even worse is when they don’t listen at all. In this workshop, you will learn how to attach to and train your kids so your voice and values have weight in their lives. We will look at some of their attachment needs, how to bring the walls down, and what to do when they make significant mistakes.

How to Survive the Loss of a Child

On August 12, 2008 David and Lisa Elliott’s 18-year-old son, Ben, was diagnosed with leukemia. A year later, on August 19, 2009, Ben was promoted to his heavenly home. Throughout the year Ben was sick, David and Lisa had to monitor his health, navigate their marriage, juggle their 3 other children, as well as meet the demands of full-time pastoral ministry. Throughout their grief journey, they learned valuable lessons and practical ways to not only survive the death of a child, but offer hope for the journey.
